Beth Brendel, RDH The art of practicing dental hygiene is not only a career for Beth, it is a way of life. Beth began her career in dentistry as a dental assistant from 1973-1975, then entered Shawnee State University to achieve her Hygiene degree in 1978. Originally from Ohio, Beth has become a transplanted Texan after 21 years of living first in Corpus Christi and then in Austin. Dr. Steinberg and fellow team members feel fortunate to have had Beth be an integral part time member of our team. The well known expression, "Thank God it’s Friday!" has a different significance for us - instead of celebrating the weeks end, we look forward to interacting with Beth every Friday morning. For the past ten years, the hours of 7:30 - 12:30 have been packed with loyal patients who eagerly come to their hygiene appointments for two reasons. First, they come for the expert and gentle care Beth delivers. Secondly, they come for a social hour with a friend. Although her time with us each week is limited, Beth fully participates in all of our team, meetings and activities, and she fully embodies Dr. Steinbergs vision and mission. Perhaps Beth and Dr. Steinberg are so in tune with each other because of their frequent dueling treadmill exercise sessions! On a personal note, besides her commitment to dental hygiene, Beth’s primary and most important role is that of a single mom to her two sons. Ryan, 17, and Casey, 16, are the beneficiaries of her undying devotion, love and guidance. When finding a little time for herself, Beth is an avid reader and can best be described as a continuous student in improving the quality of life for herself and everyone she meets. |
